2018 Hyundai Kona is Named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+

Recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that the 2018 Hyundai Kona had earned a Top Safety Pick+ award. This means that the Kona SUV not only survived, but thrived in one the of automotive industry's most thorough crash tests.

The Kona received a rating of "Good" for occupant protection in the passenger-side small overlap front crash test, as well as "Good" ratings in the other five proprietary IIHS crash tests. In addition, the Kona received a "Superior" rating for the SUV's front crash prevention system. What put the Kona over the Top Safety Pick+ line, though, is the SUV's new LED headlights that also received a "Good" rating.

In a Hyundai press release, Scott Margason, Director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America, noted, "Safety is one of the most important markers for every vehicle Hyundai develops, and we are proud of our entire engineering team, who helped Kona achieve the highest possible rating from the IIHS. Hyundai continues to prioritize making the most advanced safety features available. The Kona is a great example of the stylish, fun-to-drive, affordable and safe vehicles you can find in the Hyundai lineup."
